Book Description

When John’s parents say they are taking him and his brother to the beach, John is excited. Together, they plan wonderful things to do and he cannot wait to get there.

But then the weatherman reports that a storm is brewing. John can only see a bright blue sky and doesn’t believe what he is told.

So the family set off.

The weatherman returns to the radio and warns people that snow, wind and rain are all on their way. Mum and Dad decide to turn back, much to John’s bitter disappointment.

When the weatherman says the storm will soon pass, leaving a bright sunny day on Monday, everyone is pleased.

Everyone, except John.

He realises this is just in time for school and grumbles that the weather can be very cruel!

This is a delightful rhyming story which is sure to amuse and entertain older children. The weather descriptions lend themselves to fun discussions and the enhancement of language development. The repetition and simple text provides the perfect book for emerging independent readers as well as for ESL teachers seeking to help students grow their vocabulary.
